WHY CREATIVE CORE PILATES?

HARD AF, FUN PILATES

Creative Core founder, Kristen Andersen, has taken many Pilates classes herself, but often did not feel challenged in Pilates group settings. That’s why she created a more intense approach to Pilates-based fitness. At Creative Core we teach fitness and progressive overload using Pilates fundamentals. Movement is taught from the core, our body’s powerhouse, but HIIT styles with timed intervals, maxing out the muscles in a non-stop flow. This allows users to have both the benefits of resistance training and cardio, all in one class.

WHAT MAKES CREATIVE CORE UNIQUE

  • Small class sizes: For classes taught on the reformer, there are no more than four students in a class. Every student is different, and we individualize our approach to each students’ needs and goals.  Students will get the attention needed to get the most out of every session, resulting in faster results.

  • Community: Because of our small class sizes, members get to know each other during class. We’re on our fitness journey together!

  • Creative moves: Our instructors get to bring out their own personality in each class and offer up creative moves and routines, so the workout never gets boring!

LOCATIONS: CHELSEA + WILLIAMSBURG

All locations utilize a Pilates based, HIIT style method called Core Camp. Core Camp uses Pilates principals and equipment, fused with other fitness disciplines for a personalized, alignment based, results-driven experience.

We are proud to say that we utilize more equipment than any Pilates based studio in NYC in classes.

Equipment: Semi and PrivATE Sessions

Reformers: Private and Semi-Private classes utilize Balanced Body studio line reformers. Ever taken a class and when you jumped to a higher spring load, it felt too difficult to maintain form? Unlike other reformers, the studio gear system is adaptable to accommodate each client’s growing strength, so there is no need to compromise. form in the process.

Chair System: A combination of a mounted Suspension Trainer and a Pilates Chair, we have taken several exercises and combined them together to create a full body burn. This system is one of the main reasons we have a Private Prerequisite for Semi-Private classes, as Pilates chairs are rarely used in group classes, because they are more difficult for users to control. We believe the benefits of the chair outweighs any obstacles, so our Chair System is an integral part of training at Creative Core. We currently us MVE Peak Pilates chair in Chelsea but have upgraded to Exo Chairs in Williamsburg. Though both chairs are great, the Exo chair, like the studio reformer, allows for more gear options to personalize each client’s experience.

Free Weights: We lift, as strength training with progressive overload is the best way to build muscle. Free Weights will get hit a minimum of ten minutes during every private and semi-private session. Uses alone or with other equipment. It’s time to put down those 2 pound weights and build muscle! I promise you won’t bulk!!!!!

Cadillac (Privates only): The Cadillac or Trapeze Table is a great tool for rehab, improving flexibility and Strength, and CORE CONTROL. You can attach springs, in several different planes for resistance training and use the pushthrough bar to work on your teaser! Another amazing way to change up a session, creatively!

Ladder Barrel (Chelsea Privates Only): The ladder barrel enhances spinal movements, targets deep core muscles from different planes, and also provides support to perform exercises when rehabbing injuries. One of the best tools for standing oblique and back work.

Equipment: Semi Private and Spring and Suspend

Custom Made Spring System: Based on Ellie Herman’s Springboard design, Springs are attached at several points vertically on a wooden board attached to a wall. The different planes at which springs are attached make exercises more challenging or can actually be helpful. Since their springs, they spring back, forcing clients to stabilize the springs, which creates more muscle engagement.

Suspension Trainer: A workout system that uses adjustable straps to allow you to leverage your own body weight for resistance. Suspension Trainers improve core strength, because your body is constantly fighting instability, so your core is engaged in nearly every exercise. Builds functional strength with exercises that mimic real-life movements and is adjustable for all fitness levels.

Props (all classes): Magic circles, Stability balls, Resistance bands Ab dolly’s, Lunge dolly’s, and Stability poles.
